We are lucky enough to have 6 iPads in our classroom, and if everything goes as planned, our district will be 1:1 k-12 next year! My Wordless Wednesday question is how do you organize your iPads (this could be how you organize the apps on the iPad or how the use of iPads is organized in your classroom!)?
I use my four iPads during our Daily 5 rotation. Students who are doing "listening" as a rotation of the Daily 5 use the iPads. They need to listen to 2 stories before engaging with other apps. I show how I set up my Daily 5 rotation on today's Wordless Wednesday post on my blog. Congrats on the iPads! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteDo you use Storia for your listening center?
ReplyDeleteSo lucky! We have 2 carts of 30+ I-Pad's. We aren't allowed to add apps. I honestly haven't spent much time with my students with them.

Teaching Ever After
Sorry, I can't help you. I keep pushing for iPads with our technology money, but I am a lone voice in the wilderness. There always seem to be something more pressing. I am, however, very jealous of your proposed 1:1 status for next year. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI only have one iPad in my classroom. I have apps organised by subject areas, each on its own "page". On each of the "pages" I have apps that are similar grouped into folders, but I pull out the ones we are using to be on the screen instead of in a folder so they are easy to find. At the moment I use my iPad to support my kids with additional needs in writing or when they need a break.

Wow I am envious, the only iPad used in my classroom is my personal one! On it I have a screen with the apps my students are allowed on so it is separate from my apps.

Frampton's FUNdamentals
I put all of our frequently used apps at the bottom of the screen so they are always visible to the kids. Then, I put all apps that are ELA and approved by me in a folder for Reading, and same with math. I put any apps I don't want the kids to access in a folder that says STOP.
